A brazen daytime robbery rattled a Sunnyvale jewelry store on Sunday after a group of suspects used a stolen vehicle to break into the business, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (SDPS).
Authorities say the incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. at a store in the 1000 block of East El Camino Real. Responding officers found that the suspects had driven a vehicle directly into the storefront to force entry.
Once inside, the suspects reportedly used hammers to shatter glass display cases and made off with an undisclosed amount of jewelry. At least one person inside the store sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

After the heist, the suspects fled the scene in multiple waiting getaway vehicles, abandoning the car that had been driven into the store. Investigators later confirmed that the vehicle used in the crash was stolen.
Sunnyvale police managed to locate one of the escaping vehicles and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield. A pursuit began but was later called off “in the interest of public safety,” officials said.
The investigation is still active, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Detective G. Limon at 408-730-7110.
