After 10 Years, Habitat for Humanity ReStore Closes Its Doors

ATTLEBORO, MA — After a decade of serving the community with a mission rooted in sustainability and affordable housing, Old Colony Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore in Attleboro has officially closed its doors, the organization announced this week.

For 10 years, the ReStore offered residents the opportunity to shop for discounted home goods while supporting a greater cause. By accepting donations of new and gently used furniture, appliances, and building materials, the store helped keep countless items out of landfills—all while raising funds to support the construction of affordable homes for families in need.

More Than Just a Store

In a message shared with the community, Old Colony Habitat CEO Kimberly Thomas reflected on the ReStore’s legacy.

“The ReStore has always been more than just a shop—it’s been a place where community values were lived out daily,” she said. “To every volunteer, shopper, donor, and supporter who helped fuel our mission, thank you. You made it possible for us to turn recycled goods into real homes.”

Over the years, proceeds from the ReStore played a crucial role in funding local construction projects that provided stability, independence, and opportunity to families in Southeastern Massachusetts.

Looking Ahead

While the organization did not share specific reasons for the closure, Thomas acknowledged that the future of retail operations remains uncertain.

“We don’t yet know what lies ahead for a new ReStore or retail location,” she noted. “But what we do know is that our mission endures.”

Despite the store’s closure, Old Colony Habitat’s work continues. The nonprofit remains focused on building homes and fostering strong communities throughout the region.

“Our tools are still in hand, and our commitment is stronger than ever,” Thomas emphasized. “We’ll keep working—brick by brick, family by family—to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live.”
